JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assumes responsibility for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in the patient care area. The LVN utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. The LVN contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through techniques that support and achieve positive outcomes in patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Obtains pertinent information from patients and families in an objective and professional manner.
- Communicates pertinent information regarding patient care throughout the shift and at end of shift to appropriate personnel.
- Documents clearly and completely the various aspects of the nursing process indicated within the role of the LVN in the EMR in a timely manner.
- Recognizes problems with skin integrity in geriatric and immobile patients; enters wounds in eSRM on admission; makes appropriate interventions.
- Appropriate use of restraints; makes sure there is a daily order; charts thoroughly in the EMR.
- Assists RN in coordinating plan of care.
- Administers medications accurately and safely.
