IN-SEASON RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the head coach formulating objectives for the coming sport season.
- Mentor, develop and evaluate athletes throughout the season.
- Have understanding and knowledge of rules and regulations as presented in the WIAAHandbook, League Handbook and Athletic/Activity Handbook.
- The coach must constantly uphold the honor and dignity of the profession. In all personalcontact with the student athlete, officials, Athletic/Activity directors, school administrators, theWIAA, the media and the public, the coach shall strive to set an example of the highestheticaland moral conduct.
- Assist head coach in verifying inventory and arrange for a systemic issuance of schoolequipment/uniforms.
- Implement procedures as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbook..
- Assist in responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used.
- Assist supervisory control over all phases of the team in program.
- Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbookand Student Handbook.
- See that the building regulations are understood and enforced.
- Emphasize safety precautions, be aware of current training and injury procedures and have acurrent First Aid Card/CPR card.
- Instruct players concerning rules and rule changes.
- Conduct self and teams in a professional manner at all times.
- Transportation supervision ratio will include one district employee per twenty participants forall trips outside of approved local venues, (see WSVSD Student Self Transport Form forapproved venues).
- When a serious injury occurs which requires immediate medical attention, the coach incharge must take appropriate fir aid measures. If a physician, emergency medical technician(EMT) or other medical professional is present, his/her assistance shall be requested. Call911 if additional emergency medical assistance is required. All coaches are required to haveWSVSD Emergency Medical Information and Authorization forms for every student athlete ontheir team eligibility list at all games and practices.
