Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
White Sands Treatment Center is a leading provider of drug and alcohol rehabilitative services in Florida. We provide evidence-based treatment in a residential setting for adult men and women.
We are seeking a strong professional to join our team as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) for our facility in Fort Myers. The BHT is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities as directed by the BHT director and director of operations. The BHT will assist patients to learn and follow rules, regulations, and routines during detoxification and in the residential program, including driving patients to outside events.
*Must have a valid driver's license
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
· Be sure that patient assignments and responsibilities are understood and in progress
· Documentation of patient issues, progress, areas of resistance, positive and negative strategies, etc.
· Document the patient’s progress accurately as it relates to treatment goals and objectives
· Assist patients in gaining group process skills
· Address problem behaviors
· Create atmosphere in which self-disclosure is facilitated
· Adhere to time schedules
· Assist patients gain insight into problems
· Give patient a clear picture of where she stands with regard to progress toward recovery as seen by the therapist and the multidisciplinary treatment team
· Enforce program rules and regulations in a firm but fair manner
· Confront counter-productive behavior appropriately
· Communicate effectively with patients and elicit respect
· Adapt to different types of patients
· Identify patient strengths and weaknesses
· Maintain healthy boundaries
· Understand and apply the program’s clinical philosophy
· Link patient with internal and external resources as needed to meet patient needs
· Assist patient in managing outside stressors (legal, financial, vocational, etc.) according to the best interests of the patient’s progress in recovery as directed
· Demonstrate good strategic and problem-solving skills
· Ensure that documentation is timely, consistent, clear and articulate
· Keep clinical records secure at all times
· Prepare patient to maintain recovery post-discharge
· Provide patient information to treatment team to aid in developing a discharge plan that meets patient needs for ongoing support
Position Requirements:
· We are seeking local candidates only for this position
· Two years of work experience in substance abuse and mental health field
· Experience preferred in addiction recovery
Job Type: Full-time, 2nd shift
Required Education:
· High School Education- College Diploma or equivalent preferred
Required License/Certification:
· Florida Class “E” Driver’s License'
