Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator, under the supervision of the Project Foreman, Superintendent, or Civil Director, will drive or control construction equipment, including tractors, bulldozers, backhoes, or excavators, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavations. You will operate equipment to assist in the construction of structures.
Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Technical/Administrative
Reports To: Civil Operations Director
Essential Functions
Responsibilities
Operate one or more types of heavy equipment such as a dozer, track hoe/excavator, or motor grader to prepare undeveloped job sites to meet job required grades
Construct/grade building pads to proper slope and grade specifications
Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals
General housekeeping and maintenance checks of equipment including reporting usage/utilization hours on a daily basis or as directed by supervisor
Ability to work in Alabama
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Perform any other general duties as directed

Job Requirements
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience operating equipment during site development
Proficient at digging footings to required grades
Capable of programming GPS installed devices
Experience fine grading with various types of equipment
Must have a valid driver’s license
Ability to accurately interpret plans
Completion of an OSHA 10-hour construction course required; OSHA 30-hour course preferred
Capable of working with minimal oversight by willing to follow directions closely
Ability to work in extreme weather fluctuations
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Must have reliable transportation
Must have a great work ethic
Construction experience a plus
Must be able to accurately read gauges, dials, and other indicators, and adjust them as necessary
Must be reliable and have a flexible work schedule
Working Conditions
Normal on-site construction field work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving and mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Salary : $37,000 - $66,000
