POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs nursing functions for physician/extender. Supports the Objectives and Philosophy of White-Wilson Medical Center.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs selected nursing care and administrative duties.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards.
- Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients including patient screening, histories, and vital signs.
- Observes, records and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Dispenses medication as directed.
- Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Assists in maintaining timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.
- Screens patients for appropriate information.
- Instructs a patient in collection of samples and tests.
- Assists in scheduling tests, treatments, surgeries, or admissions.
- Responds to and refers to incoming telephone calls.
- Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Formulates and updates patient care plans. Orders, prepares, and inspects patients’ charts. Posts tests and examination results.
- Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
- Screens and refers pharmaceutical representatives.
- Maintains basic knowledge of medical coding and keeps abreast of annual changes and updates.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Maintains strict confidentiality.

- May perform point of care testing and resulting.
- May perform venipuncture, ensuring accurate and safe collection of blood samples.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Uses EMR to record all patient information to include:
- Phone messages, med refills, general questions, and form completion, etc. as generated in the EMR as a Patient Case.
- Tracking Referrals in EMR through Referral Management.
- Open chart from provider schedule to initiate patient visit.
- Record vitals, history, medications, etc. as pertaining to patient visit.
- Implement orders in the EMR plan for immunizations, lab, x-ray, and other procedures as needed.
- Insure accurate coding and billing in the EHR superbill.
- Ensure provider has met Meaningful Use initiatives as required to meet federal guidelines.
- Performs patient outreach for value-based initiatives and patient optimization programs.
- Utilize Florida Shots, Availity and other programs as needed for patient care.
- Must read and respond to email daily, and in a timely manner.
- Must attend all department meetings, and clinic required meetings.

Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
One year of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Possession of a State LPN Nurse license.
Current CPR certification required.
IV Certification preferred.
Supervisory Duties:
This position has no direct reports.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position in an outpatient medical business office setting. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some overtime as approved in advance.
