Job Title: Web Press Operator

Location: Sheldon, Iowa

Job Type: Full-time; second or third shift positions available

Job Description:

We are seeking skilled press operators to add to our team at White Wolf Web, the Midwest s industry leader for quality cold-set web printing. As a press operator, you will play a crucial role in the printing and production process, ensuring that newspapers are printed with accuracy, quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating and maintaining four-color presses in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain six-tower Heidelberg Mercury cold-set press, with custom automation.
• Ensure high-quality print production by monitoring ink, paper, and press performance.
• Monitor press output for color, registration and overall print quality.
• Make necessary adjustments while running to ensure the final product meets quality standards.
• Prepare paper and ink in advance to minimize downtime
• Collaborate with production team to meet deadlines and resolve technical issues that may arise.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify problems, and perform repairs as necessary to minimize production delays.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the press to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure all work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or training in printing is a plus.
• Proven experience as a pressman or similar role in a printing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Good color vision/perception, good hearing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of printing processes, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on production schedules.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform manual labor tasks.
• Ability to work in a busy environment.
