About the Role:
A skilled professional is required to operate and maintain precision machinery to create metal parts and components according to specifications. The machinist works in various industries, including manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and engineering, where precision and accuracy are critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machining Operation: Set up and program machines to perform specific operations, using various machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment to shape, cut, and finish metal parts.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand the dimensions, tolerances, and features required for the part.
- Material Selection: Select suitable materials such as metals, plastics, or composites based on project requirements, considering material properties, durability, and the part's intended use.
- Tool Selection and Setup: Choose appropriate cutting tools, drills, and other accessories needed for the machining process, installing and aligning them accurately in the machines.
- Machining Processes: Perform various machining processes, including turning, drilling, milling, grinding, and threading, to shape and refine the workpiece.
- Programming CNC Machines: Create or modify computer programs that control the machine's movements and operations, requiring knowledge of programming languages and CAD/CAM software.
