Job Description
We are looking for Box Office Assistants to work alongside the ticket department in the box office this season! Candidates need to be customer focused, efficient in working on computers and phones, and ready to help fans with the variety of inquiries that find their way to the box office. This is a great opportunity to gain sports sales experience!
Who we are : We’re the West Michigan Whitecaps, Class High-A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The Whitecaps are in the FUN business, and our mission is to provide affordable family entertainment that strengthens the West Michigan community. We create memorable experiences by offering a fun, friendly, and inclusive environment.
Why we want you : You’re an enthusiastic and outgoing people person, with some prior experience in customer service. You're passionate about the fan experience, a stellar organizer, and work well with a variety of people and environments but are confident and comfortable working alone. You love meeting new people and consider yourself a phenomenal communicator and approachable personality. You work hard and play nice and appreciate a good joke.
Why you want to work here : When you join our team, you become a part of our culture and our story – we’re small enough that you’ll have an ability to put your stamp on things. We’ve got an all-hands-on-deck mentality and pitch in when something needs done. We work very hard, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously; we realize how important things like office darts and puppy visits and staff happy hours are. Plus, besides the typical benefits, you also get free baseball tickets (your friends will love you!) and discounted concessions and merchandise. We were just awarded the honor of being one of both West Michigan’s and the Nation's Best & Brightest Employers to work for, for the second year in a row. We’re also pretty great people to work with.
What you’ll do : You’ll assist fans in purchasing seats for the best baseball in the area during off and game weeks, troubleshoot questions over phone, email, and in person, and support the ticket department with ticket operations and fulfillment. You’ll be part of a customer facing team, providing a friendly and helpful welcome on behalf of the team and have a lot of fun doing it.
What you need : Terrific customer service, excellent communication, interpersonal, and technical skills, and an enthusiasm for sharing your excitement and passion for the Whitecaps brand. The ability to multitask, organize, and adjust to changing schedules. Prior experience in customer service and / or box office roles is preferred. Flexibility, since every day here is different. You’ll need a willingness to work a lot of nights, holidays, and weekends.
Let’s do this : If you’re ready to apply, we look forward to getting to know you. Submit your resume and drop us a cover letter letting us know why you’d be a good fit. We’ll be in touch.
