What are the responsibilities and job description for the Whitecaps Playground position at Whitecaps Professional Baseball?
Playground Attendant
We are looking for a Playground Attendant to work alongside the Operations department at LMCU Ballpark this season! Candidates need to be fan focused and ready to keep an eye on the busy playground area.
Who we are: We’re the West Michigan Whitecaps, Class High-A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The Whitecaps are in the FUN business, and our mission is to provide affordable family entertainment that strengthens the West Michigan community. We create memorable experiences by offering a fun, friendly, and inclusive environment.
Why we want you: You’re an enthusiastic and outgoing people person, with some prior experience in customer service. You're passionate about the fan experience, a stellar organizer, and work well with a variety of people and environments but are confident and comfortable working alone. You love meeting new people and consider yourself a phenomenal communicator and approachable personality. You work hard and play nice and appreciate a good joke.
Why you want to work here: When you join our team, you become a part of our culture and our story – we’re small enough that you’ll have an ability to put your stamp on things. We’ve got an all-hands-on-deck mentality and pitch in when something needs done. We work very hard, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Plus, besides the typical benefits, you also get free baseball tickets (your friends will love you!) and discounted concessions and merchandise.
What you’ll do: You’ll watch the playground area diligently, wrangling kids and keeping them in orderly lines while they wait their turn for attractions such as the jungle gym, bouncy castle, free throw hoops, pitch & catch, etc. You will operate a radio to stay in contact with operations personnel throughout the stadium for the duration of your shift. You’ll be working in the sun, making sure kids stay safe - and have a lot of fun doing it.
What you need: Terrific customer service, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and an enthusiasm for keeping kids safe and happy. The ability to multitask, organize, and adjust. Prior experience in customer service is preferred. Flexibility, since every day here is different. You’ll need a willingness to work a lot of nights, holidays, and weekends.
Let’s do this: If you’re ready to apply, we look forward to getting to know you. Submit your resume and drop us a cover letter letting us know why you’d be a good fit. We’ll be in touch.
