We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable individual to join our 3D printing production team. This role is far more than simply operating 3D printers—it requires hands-on problem-solving, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to keeping our production running at peak efficiency. You’ll be involved in firmware and hardware maintenance, machine troubleshooting, and post-processing, making this position both dynamic and essential to our workflow.
As a Firmware-Catered 3D Printing Associate, you will play a key role in ensuring our print farm operates seamlessly, minimizing downtime and maximizing output quality. Your responsibilities will include managing firmware, optimizing klipper / marlin systems, and troubleshooting printer performance issues to keep production on track. This role demands a sharp technical mind, strong problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach to maintaining and improving our 3D printing systems.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting various 3D printers, including FDM and SLA systems.
- Work with Marlin and Klipper firmware, adjusting configurations and optimizing print performance.
- Repair and upgrade printers, including hardware modifications, component replacements, and system calibrations.
- Assist in post-processing tasks, including support removal, sanding, and finishing printed parts.
- Manage print jobs, material selection, and ensure high-quality output.
- Collaborate with the team to improve workflows and develop new printing techniques.
- Cross-train and contribute to other production areas, including the shop and bodywork departments. Manage and maintain the 3D printer firmware and networked system to ensure seamless operation, minimize downtime, and improve workflow efficiency.
Candidates must possess these attributes:
- Firmware Knowledge: Understanding of Marlin and Klipper, ability to modify and troubleshoot firmware settings.
- Coding Basics: Familiarity with Python is a huge plus (no formal education required).
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to work with various 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLA, and knowledge of different printer brands (Voron, Creality, etc.).
- Hands-On Maintenance: Comfortable with disassembling, repairing, and upgrading 3D printers and their components.
- Material Knowledge: Experience working with different 3D printing materials, plastics, and concepts.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to troubleshoot and optimize print settings, hardware issues, and overall challenges.
- Adaptability & Teamwork: A collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and work across multiple departments.
