SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
The business teacher is responsible for developing an effective classroom environment that fosters students' knowledge, skills, and attributes essential for success in postsecondary education. This is achieved by meeting benchmarks in academic content knowledge, cognitive and higher-order thinking strategies, critical thinking and problem-solving, collaboration and communication, and grit/resilience/perseverance. Utilizing the school’s CCR curriculum, the business teacher will instruct College and Career Readiness courses aligned with Montana State Standards. Additionally, the business teacher may teach Broadcast Journalism, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and equipment in a high-tech recording studio adjoining the classroom.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following requirements);
- Valid Montana secondary Business Teaching Certificate
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience with the utilization and instruction of multimedia technology.
- Ability to integrate written and verbal communication with various forms of technology to create multimedia productions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong background in using and applying mathematics, English, language arts/literacy resources, and technology in the classroom.
- Experience and ability to teach high school-level courses that prepare students to successfully plan and pursue postsecondary education, training, and a career path aligned to their personal goals, with the ability to adapt and innovate as job demands change.
- Understands, embraces, and promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills, effective communication, collaboration, and self-directed learning.
- Experience in broadcast journalism, including interviewing, public speaking, videography, editing, and production.
- Multiple high school teaching endorsements are beneficial and provide flexibility to support future enrollment growth and evolving academic needs over time, although not required.
- Ability and willingness to work with students in extracurricular or co-curricular activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
TEACHING AND LEARNING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a positive and effective learning environment.
- Plan and deliver differentiated instruction using Montana Common Core Standards, incorporating integrated literacy and thinking skills to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
- Design engaging learning experiences that are rigorous, relevant, and relationship-oriented.
- Utilize a range of instructional techniques and media to meet diverse learning needs.
- Employ project-based learning, group discussions, and collaborative activities to actively engage students.
- Guide students in developing skills and plans for future success in college and careers.
- Instruct students on organizing and presenting their work through video broadcasts to the school community.
- Integrate thinking strategies and study skills into all disciplines.
- Develop and maintain weekly lesson plans, course content sheets, and unit plans aligned with district curriculum.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and staff.
- Encourage and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes as scheduled.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
- Cooperate with administration and staff to plan instructional goals and activities.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School year working days as set by the Board of Trustees. Salary, benefits and other working conditions as negotiated between the Whitefish School District and Whitefish Education Association and as assigned by the administration.
