Job Title: Food Prep Specialist
Job Summary:
The Food Prep Specialist is responsible for preparing ingredients, ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently in food preparation tasks. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen to ensure quality food is served to customers in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Start date: around May 1st
Ingredient Preparation:
- Wash, peel, chop, and cut vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as needed.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or instructions.
- Prepare sauces, dressings, and condiments.
- Assemble sandwich fillings, salads, and other pre-made food items.
Maintaining Kitchen Organization:
- Keep kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment organized and clean.
- Store ingredients, meats, and other food items in appropriate conditions to maintain freshness.
- Label and date food items to ensure proper rotation and minimize waste.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring all prep areas are clean and hygienic.
Food Handling and Safety:
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring that food preparation areas are sanitary and safe.
- Use gloves, tongs, and other utensils to handle food properly and safely.
- Ensure food products are stored and disposed of correctly to avoid cross-contamination.
Assist in Cooking and Assembly:
- Assist with assembling sandwiches, wraps, salads, or other menu items.
- Support the kitchen staff by ensuring that ingredients are ready and available during busy periods.
- Prepare garnishes and decorative elements for dishes, where needed.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Assist in receiving and stocking food shipments, ensuring items are correctly stored.
- Keep track of food waste and report discrepancies or inefficiencies to management.
Equipment Care:
- Operate kitchen equipment like blenders, food processors, and mixers as needed for food prep.
- Clean and maintain kitchen tools and equipment, reporting any malfunctioning equipment to the kitchen manager.
Collaborate with management :
- Work closely with general manager, operations managers, and supervisors to ensure tour lunches, employee lunches, and city beach concession food is prepared and delivered for day.
- Communicate clearly with the team to ensure food is prepared according to recipe specifications and customer requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow specific instructions and recipes precisely.
- Time Management: Capable of efficiently preparing ingredients and handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety standards and proper handling techniques.
- Teamwork: Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with other kitchen staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy ingredients or equipment.
- Organization: Able to keep workspaces tidy and food organized.
- Basic Culinary Knowledge: Knowledge of food preparation techniques and experience in using kitchen equipment.
- Communication: Good communication skills for coordinating with other team members.
- Must have a valid drivers license and agree to driving record check in order to drive company vehicles.
Education and Experience:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience in food preparation, kitchen work, or a related field is preferred but not always required.
Working Conditions:
- Hours: Mornings: 6 am to 10 or 11 am, Thursday-Monday (preferably)
- Environment: Small kitchen, solo working environment
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
