TITLE: High School Ramette Advisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Ohio certification/licensure
- Bachelor’s degree
- Such Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit
REPORTS TO: High School Athletic Director/High School Principal
JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Plans with Ramette officers and Ramette Booster Executive Board.
- Works closely with the athletic director for scheduling during the school year.
- Recommends purchase of uniforms, accessories, props, performance materials to be purchased through appropriate fundraisers.
- Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
- Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations (Ramette Boosters).
DUTIES:
Football Season
- Choreograph feature numbers: train team.
- Design drill for the show (usually 4 -5 shows).
- Consult with band director and other auxiliary directors on the drill designs.
- Attend all parades, contests, festivals, community functions with band.
- Prepare special Homecoming and Senior Night activities.
- Attend all games and supervise bus transportation.
- Monitor 11th period rehearsals/Study Hall.
Interim Season (following final football games until Winter Break) - Need to be determined by Building Principal
A. Advertise and conduct clinics and tryouts for competition season.
B. Meet with team officers and plan to choreograph and write the drill for the contest show.
C. Meet with booster officers to place requests for props, costumes, and materials.
D. Plan the competition schedule.
E. Conduct conditioning practices.
Competition Season (January - April) - Need to be determined by Building Principal
- Choreograph team competition show.
- Schedule busses and other transportation.
- Register team for contests.
- Conduct practice sessions.
- Advertise and conduct parent preview.
- Review video and audio tapes of competition critiques and make changes accordingly.
- Complete all necessary building requisitions.
- Meet with athletic director to arrange performances at girls’/boys’ basketball games.
- Plan and monitor Invitational activities.
Spring Interim Season (Nationals – May) - Need to be determined by Building Principal
- Arrange banquet facilities, times, etc.
- Advertise and conduct tryout clinics and tryouts.
Summer (June –August)
- Meet with new members to indoctrinate with old material for summer performances (e.g. parade routine, fight song, basic marching style/commands, and field mechanics.)
- Meet with new officers to plan summer activities.
- Conduct practices and prepare team for Fourth of July parades.
- Prepare team for drill team camp.
- Choreograph and practice a “home” routine and other items necessary for camp.
- Prepare appropriate medical forms, permission slips, camp information, direction, etc. for parents.
- Prepare team for band camp.
- Meet with band director prior to camp to receive show music and field placement requests.
- Choreograph and teach the featured number before camp.
- Drill new members on football field mechanics.
- Prepare appropriate forms.
- Accompany team to band camp and drill team camp.
- Serve as monitor, drill sergeant, and teacher.
- Assist band directors.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Excellent observation and communication skills
- Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
- Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
- Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
