TITLE: SOCIAL WORKER
NOTE: This position will be full time at Rosemore Middle School, but the position an employee of the ESC of Central Ohio.
QUALIFICATIONS
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs casework service with individual students to correct those personal, social or emotional mal-adjustments related to their educational and social progress.
2. Performs casework service with parents to increase the parents’ understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
3. Consults and collaborates with other school personnel, particularly intervention specialists, ingathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of student’s behavior.
4. Supervise the referral of students to, and serves as liaison with, such outside agencies as the Welfare Department, Family and Children’s Services, Juvenile Court, and Public Safety, as appropriate.
5. Makes home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student’s background.
6. Serves as liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary, as in welfare cases, foster home children, and disadvantaged children.
7. Assists students directly to adjustment towards school.
8. Keeps sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies when appropriate.
9. May serve as member of the IEP or IAT teams as appropriate.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
NOTE: This position will be full time at Rosemore Middle School, but the position an employee of the ESC of Central Ohio.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Ohio certification/license
- Master’s degree in social work, and
- One year of successful experience in a chartered school or school district under a professional license; or one year of social work experience under a current license issued by the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board; or a graduate level social work practicum of at least of at least ten weeks in a chartered school or school district; and
- Current license to practice social work issued by the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Excellent observation and communication skills
- Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
- Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
- Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
