What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Assistant position at Whitehouse Community Library?
1. Check materials in and out using integrated library system (Atriuum).
2. Organize, straighten, and shelve books.
3. Plan and lead children's programs as needed.
4. Assist patrons in locating materials, opening new accounts, and answering factual questions in person, by phone and email.
5. Must have basic computer and printer knowledge, including being able to troubleshoot issues and assisting patrons as they use the computers.
6. Handle money and operate a cash register.
7. Be willing to help out with special projects like sorting donated books as needed.
8. Keep library clean, organized and inviting.
Ideal Candidate:
Someone friendly and organized, who is willing to go the extra mile to make the library an inviting and easy-to-use space. A high school diploma is required. Previous library experience preferred. Must be available to work some Saturdays.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $8.00 - $9.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
