Role Summary:
The Music Therapist is responsible for providing direct services for adolescents in residential treatment, using music to help attain and maintain maximum levels of functioning in the areas of social/emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual health. Treatment and program planning is designed to promote individualized care, reduce distress, improve coping and emotional stability, improve functional skills, build healthy self-image, and encourage positive social interaction. Participation in an interdisciplinary care team will provide opportunities for collaboration and supervision.
Qualifications:
Individual with strong convictions who is also in agreement with Josiah White’s mission statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct.
Must be 21 years of age.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy.
Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) credential preferred.
Must possess a friendly, trustworthy demeanor and demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with both internal and external contacts.
Strong telephone communication skills and proficiency in computer applications, including Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Responsibilities:
The MT-BC provides group and individual programming, individual assessments, and interventions for clients.
The MT-BC works very closely with the multidisciplinary care team
Initially assess the patient and family to determine plan of care, implement interventions and evaluate results.
Develop or contribute to the plan of care that addresses appropriate goals and interventions to meet the patient needs of ages, cultural backgrounds and in various settings.
Communicate with clients and care team to determine appropriate referrals, design program specifics, and maximize client progress.
Administers music therapy interventions to clients in both individual and group settings.
Participates in up to 5 hours of group music therapy per week.
Provides students with recreational music opportunities as indicated by student interest and with treatment team input.
Maintains music therapy equipment and supplies.
Documents services provided in relation to expected outcomes.
Planning and education of services.

Work Schedule / Conditions:
Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM with 30 minutes for lunch.
