Summary
Whitesell Corporation is seeking a Director of Supply Chain. The Director of Supply Chain will play a pivotal role in strategizing, managing, and refining the entire supply chain process, from strategic supplier development to procurement of products for distribution across multiple facilities. This individual's expertise will drive efficient and cost-effective operations, solidifying Whitesell's position as a world-class manufacturer and distributor.
The position is based at the Company’s northwest Alabama facility and will report to the EVP and supervise approximately 8 direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
· Design and execute robust supply chain strategies to enhance efficiency, maximize quality, reduce costs, and guarantee timely product delivery.
· Manage the materials management activities, in full, including forecasting, production planning, scheduling, inventory control, etc.
· Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure supply chain strategies align with Whitesell’s overarching business objectives.
Supplier Development / Management
· Overall responsible for all purchasing activities throughout corporation.
· Identify, evaluate, and sustain relationships with crucial suppliers and vendors.
· Negotiate/re-negotiate all corporate purchasing contracts/supply agreements.
· Establish and implement strategic supply chain objectives, including but not limited to supplier identification and development in low-cost countries.
Inventory Management
· Oversee inventory levels across several warehouses, ensuring optimal stock while minimizing associated costs.
· Implement inventory protocols to diminish waste and optimize inventory turnover.
Team Leadership
· Guide, mentor, and cultivate the supply chain team across various facilities.
· Establish clear performance benchmarks and KPIs for the supply chain division.
· Direct and control the activities of those engaged in planning and procuring materials, supplier evaluation and selection, purchasing expenditure, shipping/receipt processes for materials, inventory control, and materials distribution.
Logistics & Distribution
· Supervise the complete logistics procedure, ensuring streamlined transportation and distribution routes..
Performance Analysis
· Develop systematic process measurements to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the ERP system in driving “World Class” performance in a lean manufacturing environment.
· Regularly assess and report on supply chain performance indicators.
· Develop continuous improvement strategies and plans to support goals and expectations set in the areas of product delivery responsiveness, predictability, cumulative cycle time improvements, and inventory levels/obsolescence.
· Champion continuous improvement endeavors.
Risk Management
· Formulate and employ risk management tactics to counteract supply chain interruptions.
· Monitor global market trends and adjust strategies to maintain supply chain resilience.
Qualifications

· Hands-on experience in both purchasing and materials management roles within an OEM supplier environment (fastener/class C experience a plus).
· Excellent negotiating and contract management skills.
· Proven track record as a leader/trainer.
· Thorough understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
· Advanced analytical skills.
· Prior experience with budgeted forecasts and the ability to analyze variances.
· Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
· Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally as required (estimate no more than 20%)
Education and/or Experience: BS, BA, or MBA strongly preferred with 10 plus years of experience in Supply Chain Management or related fields.
Language Skills: Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal.
Mathematical Skills: Good math includes above and working with decimals, fractions, percentages, calculating basic formulas, etc.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to make judgment calls regarding customer / production/ employee issues.
Computer Skills: Computer skills/proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and modern ERP systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPM preferred.
