PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to assist the Animal Shelter on the weekends. Including but not limited to feed/provide water to all animals, clean animal cages and other shelter equipment.
*OPEN UNTIL FILLED*
NOTE:
This position will work normally four (4) hours on Saturday and four (4) hours on Sunday. The individual must be available once a month to work six (6) hours on Saturday and two (2) on Sunday to help with rescue/adoptions.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Feeds and provides water for animals on a daily basis;
Cleans and disinfects animal shelter, floors, cages, kennels, and related equipment.
Assist with adoption and/or rescue procedures as needed;
Assists with performing euthanasia on diseased or dangerous animals; restrains animals during procedure; and works with other staff members to ensure safety and compassion.
Operates animal control equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by some experience working with animals; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
