What are the responsibilities and job description for the INTERVENTION COORDINATOR position at Whitfield County?
The purpose of this classification is to develop and coordinate the County’s handgun intervention program. This position reports to the Juvenile Court Administrator.
This is a grant position.

Under the supervision of the Juvenile Court Administrator, develops and oversees the County’s Handgun Intervention Program; establishes goals and objectives; develops policies, procedure and program performance measurements; implements, monitors and evaluates program services; and implements changes to improve program effectiveness.
Conducts educational sessions on identifying and addressing violent behaviors to schools, civic associations, and the community.
Collaborate with all three school systems (Dalton City, Whitfield County, & Murray County) within the circuit to identify other youth who may not be charged, but could benefit from participation in the handgun intervention program.
Partner with community stakeholders through initiatives such as the Local Inter-Agency Team (LIPT), Truancy Treatment Team (TTT), Housing Stability Coalition, and Family Connection Collaborative, promoting broader crime and violence awareness, education, and intervention strategies.
Assist with expanding the Teen Maze program to include gun violence prevention education.
Establishes and maintains program records, documentation and automated information systems; enters, updates and maintains data regarding clients, services provided, and other operational information.
Prepares statistical and operational reports.
Operates a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in social services, criminal justice, business administration, marketing, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
