Job Opportunity: Contract to Hire - Vehicle Licensing Representative (VLR)
We are a family-owned business with over 41 years of history in Monroe, known for providing friendly customer service and accurate licensing transactions. We are currently looking for a contract to hire VLR to join our team. While prior licensing experience is preferred, it is not required—training will be provided to the right candidate. 90 day contract to hire. After 90 days, will be able to apply for PTO and/or 401k.
Primary Responsibilities
As a VLR, you will:
- Process vehicle and vessel transactions: Verify, review, and complete transactions, ensuring compliance with state and county licensing laws and procedures.
- Handle financial transactions: Accept payments via cash, check, and debit card, prepare reports, and reconcile daily financial records.
- Review and issue documentation: Examine legal documents such as court orders and certificates of ownership, and issue new ownership documents.
- Provide excellent customer support: Assist customers in person, over the phone, and via written communication with licensing-related inquiries.
- Manage inventory: Receive, verify, and maintain workstation inventory, reconcile discrepancies, and conduct daily audits.
- Utilize technology: Operate the Department of Licensing’s statewide system along with other relevant software for customer service and cashiering tasks.
Qualifications
- We’re looking for candidates with the following skills and qualities:
- Strong customer service experience.
- Knowledge of cashiering, basic accounting, and office procedures.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer/database applications.
Ability to
- Lift 30 pounds.
- Learn and master complex vehicle/vessel licensing procedures.
- Interpret legal documents such as court orders and powers of attorney.
- Understand and apply state and county licensing laws.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Work well in a team-oriented environment and under pressure.
- Provide courteous and professional service to the public.
- Perform tasks with accuracy, balance funds, and reconcile accounts.
Special Requirements
Within one year of hire, you must pass a certification test to qualify as an operator on the Department of Licensing’s statewide system.
To become a certified operator, you will need to complete 1,800 hours of state licensing work.
