  • Work with departmental peers to collaborate on curricular design and experiential learning experiences
  • Collaborate with grade level team to foster a community of kindness, trust, and belonging
  • Work professionally and cooperatively within the department, the School, and the broader Whitfield community

In addition to demonstrating a passion for working with middle and/or upper school students, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Language Arts Education, Humanities, English, or related degree
  • Two to three years of experience supporting middle and/or upper school students in developing essential reading and writing skills, with a focus on engaging with diverse genres of young adult literature and/or literary works that foster the academic readiness of college-preparatory students
  • Pedagogical alignment with Whitfield’s approach to experiential learning
  • Background in and commitment to supporting the cognitive and social-emotional growth of adolescents
  • Background in and commitment to culturally responsive teaching
  • Experience designing and facilitating collaborative, student-centered, inquiry-based lessons
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • A strong desire to participate in the whole life of the school
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Google suite and Microsoft Office suite
