Whitley Penn, a leading CPA and Consulting firm, is looking for a Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services (FLVS) Senior Associate to join our team! Our FLVS team offers a full range of litigation support services related to financial matters as well as forensic and valuation services outside of a litigation context. We’re looking for a Senior Associate to join our commercial litigation practice. Some areas of focus include, but are not limited to, shareholder and partner disputes, contract and transaction disputes, intellectual property disputes, business interruption cases, bankruptcy litigation, fraud and forensic litigation, loss/damage determination, and lost earnings calculations.

How Will You Make an Impact?  

  • Assisting on calculating economic damages in different types of matters, such as litigation matters involving patent, trademark, and copy right infringement, theft of trade secrets, breach of contract, business valuation, solvency, fraud, business interruption, personal injury, wrongful death, and wrongful termination.
  • Communicating with associate directors, directors, and managing directors on the directions of the case and assisting in making strategic recommendations; exercising analytical skills for details and potential risks.
  • Assisting the associate directors and directors in delivering complete reports, accompanied by relevant supporting documents, to the managing director for review.
  • Preparing the testifying expert for client meetings, depositions, and trials; ensuring the file is well-organized and all work papers and important documents are put in a binder for a quick and easy review by the testifying expert. 
  • Developing an internal and external circle of influence; participating in networking events, marketing events, and training.
  • Effectively managing projects by setting internal objectives, delegating assignments, and ensuring objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Leading departmental training for analyst and fostering a learning environment of continuous improvement. Scheduling in house training, lunch and learns with analyst and all members of the team as a whole.
  • Reviewing the work of analyst or associate, sending back for corrections and changes, if needed, and providing feedback to the analyst or associate. Reviewing the formatting of any schedules prepared (e.g., extra lines deleted, consolidation of information, etc.); spell check, and foot/cross foot numerical totals for accurate financial information analysis.

How Will You Get Here?  

  • 3 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance culminating into a leadership role including management experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics. An advanced degree in a related field or a CPA license is a plus.
  • Broad background and knowledge in litigation support /expert services.
  • Proficiency in use of technology and accounting programs including MS Office.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Project Management skills.

  • Financial standards, models, and tools.
  • Interest in continually learning and gaining knowledge.
