SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this position provides a full range of environmental services which include, but are not limited to, the cleaning of patient care environments through routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, equipment cleaning, floor/wall/ceiling cleaning, trash removal, restocking supplies, washing and making beds, and bio hazardous waste. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, comfortable and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff both internally and externally. The Environmental Service Tech II also acts in a lead capacity, assisting the department manager.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms/patient rooms, common areas and fixtures, sweep, mop or vacuum floors, in accordance with established procedures and standards using a variety of power equipment and hand tools.
- Removes and disposes all regular and infectious waste.
- Responds to emergency cleaning needs or housekeeping requires in a timely manner.
- Collects and empties trash, replaces trash bags and liners.
- Cleans occupied patient rooms daily.
- Performs terminal cleaning to disinfect operating/emergency rooms between procedures and patient rooms following discharge.
- Cleans offices, waiting rooms, and public areas.
- Communicates with clinical personnel to determine priority of cleaning needs.
- Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, supplies and equipment.
- Maintains housekeeping cart, restocks paper receptacles, replaces sharps containers, and orders supplies essential to the job.
- Performs general facility cleaning and maintenance, including: dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning sinks and toilets, washing and waxing floors.
Lead
- Collaborates with department director to communicate and execute measurable and cultural goals.
- Assist in interviews with department manager.
- Orders Linen and/or supplies for the department
- Train and develop team.
- Attend development opportunities.
- Serves as a resource for processes and questions for co-workers.
- Assists with inspections of departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- A high school diploma or GED.
- At least three (3) years of healthcare housekeeping experience.
- Valid, driver’s license.
- CPR/First-Aid certified within 30 days of hire and maintain while employed.
Preferred
- One or more years in a leadership role.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The environment of this job can vary from day to day, including working in clinical settings as well as mechanical rooms and outside during all times of year. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation.

Pay Range:
$23.00 - $38.00
Compensation: New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range; actual pay offered will vary based on years of experience.
