AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Practice

Performs an examination.
- Medical history, Cardiopulmonary systems review, Tests and Measures, Risk factor profile.

Performs evaluation.
- Interprets data collected from history and examination interventions.
- Determines a prognosis, including goals.
- Develops a plan of care that reflects achievable, measurable, and expected outcomes.
- Concludes if patient will benefit from cardiac rehabilitation.
- Provides the patient appropriate therapeutic interventions for the purpose of improving functional ability.
- Progresses plan of care based on patient’s response to interventions.
- Determines if referral or consultation with another provider is indicated.
- Notifies referring provider of changes in patient status.
- Performs reexamination to evaluate progress and to modify or redirect intervention.
- Measures global outcomes of services provided.
- Functions as a patient advocate while promoting independence in mobility and self-monitoring.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Adheres to technical/procedural skills.
- Uses appropriate body mechanics.
- Provides services in compliance of state and federal regulations.
Cardiopulmonary Specific Clinical Practice
- Monitors dysrhythmias.
- Identifies risks in patient’s treatment plan.
- Determines best method of care.
- Provides nutritional counselling.
- Provides weight management counselling.
- Provides blood pressure management counselling.
- Provides lipid management counselling.
- Provides diabetes management counselling.
- Provides tobacco cessation counselling.
- Provides psychosocial management screening, counselling, and/or referral.
- Provides physical activity counselling.
- Provides exercise training evaluation.
- Provides education regarding medical condition and risk factors.
- Communicates directly with physician overseeing cardiac rehabilitation program.
- Directs patients in graded exercise program.
- Leads and monitors ECG monitored exercise sessions.
- Possesses personal interest in primary and secondary cardiac prevention and promotes a positive image in the community to market health promotion.
- Demonstrates competence with 3-lead, 5-lead, 12 -lead (with assistance) ECG.
- Documents changes in ECG from baseline.
- Modifies treatment in real-time based on feedback from telemetry leads, including ability to identify absolute contraindications for exercise intervention.
- Activates emergency response related to adverse events and responses according to policies and procedures in place.
Supervision
- Delegates and supervises in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
- Supervises cardiac rehabilitation technicians.
Documentation
- Documents according to Federal, State and National organization regulations and guidelines.
- Documentation accurately reflects subjective and objective data, evaluation of current status, interventions.
- Documentation is complete, clear, concise, and legible.
- Documentation reflects knowledge of application of reimbursement requirements.
- Documentation reflects communication with health team members, physicians, community agencies, patients, and families.
- Documentation is consistent with agency guidelines and directives regarding use of admission paperwork, progress note and other documentation forms.
- All documentation and recertification is completed in a timely manner defined by WHMC policy.
- Completes documentation within WHMC policy guidelines.
Other
- Stays abreast of changes within the industry.
- Consistently seeks out work that needs to be completed; works on ongoing projects; and assists others as needed.
- Assists with answering phones, patient scheduling, departmental opening and closing procedures, and departmental cleaning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field from an accredited school.
- Certified in AHA – BLS and ACLS within 30 days of hire.
- Completion of basic ECG class and/or CBL dysrhythmia identification test within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical work experience.
- At least one of the following Cardiopulmonary certifications within one year of hire: ACSM EP, ACSM CEP, AACVPR CCRP, ABPTS CCS, ANCC CV-BC.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a healthcare field from an accredited school.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Cardiac rehabilitation experience.
- Additional Cardiopulmonary certification: ACSM EP, ACSM CEP, AACVPR CCRP, ABPTS CCS, ANCC CV-BC.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily worked in a clinical environment. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing and walking are required.

Pay Range:
$27.00 - $47.25
Compensation: New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range; actual pay offered will vary based on years of experience.
