Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics is hiring a Part-Time Food Service Tech to work in our hospital in Colfax, WA!
The Food Service Tech performs a variety of routine duties in the preparation and dishing of food and beverages, stocking pantries and café items, performs clean-up duties in a food service operation such as dishwashing, trash removal, storage functions and maintaining sanitary conditions. The Food Service Tech is responsible for obtaining meal orders and delivering meals to patients.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Room Service
- Takes patient food orders, relays information to cooks and delivers final product to patient.
- Maintains a professional appearance and wears required uniform.
- Maintains a pleasant disposition and is trained in the use of AIDET.
- Listens carefully to the patient when taking patient orders and interacts well with patients, nursing and other food production staff.
Cold Bar Production and Cold Foods for Sale
- Sets up and takes down cold bar (salad, sandwich and yogurt).
- Maintains cold bar levels during the day, refills, routinely cleans and fills priced to-go products.
- Maintains appropriate levels of utensils, dishes and take-out boxes and cups in café.
- Makes grab and go cold items for café sales.
Dish Washing & Machine
- Maintains clean dish room, cleans pots and pans, dishware, and flatware, maintains dish machine chemicals, and returns cleaned items to appropriate storage area all while maintaining proper sanitation processes.
Coffee Equipment
- Makes Coffee for dining area, patient service and special meeting requests and cleans equipment and air pots.
Freight Deliveries
- Aids in proper storage functions such as unboxing food deliveries and storing in appropriate areas.
Proper Labeling/Storage
- Labels, dates and properly stores items opened or items produced for sale.
Time/Temperature Control
- Maintains proper food handling techniques to prevent food borne illness.
Hand Hygiene
- Uses proper hand hygiene practices to prevent food borne illness.
Documentation and Computer Use
- Records documentation of food and equipment temperatures at specified times and meals.
- Completes cleaning documentation by the end of shift.
- Has basic computer skills to use programs for time keeping, checking email communications, navigating patient nutrition information and other programs associated with job.
- Uses Room Service software for patient ordering.
Monthly Meeting and Required Training
- Attends or updates monthly department meetings.
- Completes required on-line and in-house training by due date.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Washington State Food Handler's Permit.
- Basic knowledge of commercial grade kitchen.
- Hepatitis A vaccination: two doses given six months apart. Hospital will provide upon hire.
Preferred
- ServSafe® or equivalent Certification or become certified within 6 months of hire date.

Pay Range:
$20.00 - $35.00
Compensation: New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range; actual pay offered will vary based on years of experience.

Add-on compensation for hourly positions rewards additional training and education. Differentials apply for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Paid Time Off (PTO) accrual is based on hours worked and encompasses holiday, sick, and vacation time. Full time employees (80 hours per pay period) can accrue 23 8-hour PTO days per year, which increases with longevity.
