SUMMARY
The Infusion and Wound Nurse Lead is a skilled Registered Nurse and a demonstrated clinical expert with a high level of understanding of contemporary psychosocial and nursing principles of all age groups. The Infusion and Wound Nurse Lead is responsible for daily staff assignments and patient flow to promote efficiency per standards and regulations. This lead serves as the primary point of contact for scheduling patients, reviewing care plans and billing authorizations. He or she encourages and promotes a team environment by leading unit orientation, competency / skills verification, process improvement, and best practices for quality and safety.

Services
- Support for staff in Infusion Service Line
- Support for Wound & Ostomy Care (Outpatient and Inpatient Referrals)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates daily staffing assignments, and makes adjustments when applicable to accommodate patient acuity and census.
- Exhibits excellent customer care techniques to internal and external customers.
- Participates in committees as assigned and assists with the implementation and guidance of policies, procedures, standards, and regulations for personnel, patients, medical staff and the public.
- Collaborates with the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or other members of healthcare team to facilitate assessment findings, status, and current review of patient care, therapy regimens, and treatment plans.
- Maintains infusion therapy patient records both in the EMR and paper chart
- Coordinates patient scheduling with pharmacy, physicians, and available staff.
- Review and implementation of current and new therapy plans
- Works directly with pharmacy on inputting new therapy plans
- Daily and weekly compliance overview of therapy plans that include authorization, new prescriptions, and discontinued plans
- Daily patient charge capture review
- Monthly chart audit reports
- Works with director to achieve yearly department goals, monthly budget and long-term goals for the infusion and wound department
Safety/Security
- Possesses a familiarity with the hospital environment of care codes including appropriate responses.
Infection Control/Employee Health
- Utilizes all hospital and patient care infection control policies and standards.
- Demonstrates knowledge of standard precautions and aseptic technique.
- Reports exposures promptly and seeks assistance for care/follow-up.
Patient Care
- Performs direct patient care within scope of RN practice act and according to hospital policies and procedures, when needed or assigned.
- Identifies educational needs, implements and evaluates learning and documents patient /family education for all educational needs
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.
- Demonstrates knowledge level necessary to assess patient’s psychosocial, educational and physical needs, and the knowledge and skill to address these needs in an age appropriate manner for all age groups.
- Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
- Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques and document competency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Active RN licensure in the state of Washington.
- Minimum 2 years experience with Infusion and Wound Therapy Treatments.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certified through the AHA within thirty days of hire and maintained while employed.
- Experience using Electronic Health Care Record for patient documentation
Preferred
- Prior Charge Nurse experience preferred.
- Infusion and Wound Therapy Certifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily worked in a clinical environment. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing and walking are required.

Pay Range:
$40.00 - $69.50
Compensation: New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range; actual pay offered will vary based on years of experience.
