We are currently seeking a College Intern to join the WRA Transit team in our Baltimore, MD office to work as the College Assistant for the MTA Red Line High School Internship program. The proposed Red Line project that will connect East and West Baltimore (https://redlinemaryland.com/).
The Red Line High School Internship program will focus on a small group of high school students from a Baltimore City/County High School. The Red Line High School Internship Program is designed to engage students in the Red Line Transit Project who live or attend school in the corridor and expose them to educational and career opportunities in transportation. These students will be engaged in meaningful projects that support the design and engineering of the Red Line.
The College Assistant will work directly with the WRA senior staff to plan, lead, encourage, and engage these high school intern students during the 6-week internship period. The College Assistant will support the day-to-day management of the high school students.
Intern Period: May 18, 2025 – August 15, 2025
Working Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
Responsibilities:
- Work under direction of senior staff.
- Assist in managing three summer high school interns hired to work in the MTA Red Line High School internship program.
- Schedule and prepare assignments and activities for interns.
- Prepare and deliver presentations.
- Conduct basic research and data collection.
- Assist in the development of graphics, presentation materials and reports.
- Assist project team members with various support tasks.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Transportation Systems, Transportation and Highway Engineering, Civil Engineering, Planning/Urban Planning, Architecture, or other related undergraduate program from an accredited institution. Preferred completion of 2 years of the program.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Effective oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time accordingly.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and learn more about the field while working on these challenges.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office programs.

The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
