The Government and Community Affairs Department within the Whitney Museum of American Art seeks the support of a Graduate Fellow from February to July 2025 to support planning for the annual arts festival, West Side Fest, which will take place July 11-13, 2025, and to perform research on the topic of cultural districts.

West Side Fest is an annual arts event produced by the West Side Cultural Network, a group of 20 cultural nonprofits, including the Whitney Museum, located along Manhattan’s West Side who work together to create meaningful moments for New Yorkers to access and engage with member organizations.

The Fellowship would offer graduate students a $10,000 stipend for part-time project based work from February through mid-July to support the two primary work areas :

• Serve as a project manager for West Side Fest, working closely with the Director of Government and Community Affairs at the Whitney to coordinate across staff of Network member organizations to streamline and support event planning;
• Produce a white paper on the topic of cultural districts to better understand the impacts of formalizing a naturally occurring cultural district into a defined organization.

The Fellowship is a hybrid opportunity, with a flexible schedule, determined between the Fellow and the Director of Government and Community Affairs to fit both the Fellow’s schedule and the requirements of the role.
