[Summer 2025] Digital Content Internship

The Whitney’s summer internship program is a full-time, paid, nine-week session primarily for undergraduate students. The program includes training, direct work experience, professional development, and a weekly speaker series. The 2025 Summer internship will be hybrid, meaning interns will work onsite at least three days per week. The program will begin on Monday, June 2, and end on Friday, August 1. Participants must be available Monday through Friday for nine consecutive weeks, five days per week.

Expected Projects & AssignmentsAid department in all aspects of content production for video, web, socialPitch, plan, and create short-form videos for social mediaParticipate in department planning for upcoming exhibitionDo archival and historical research for documentary-style video projectsAssist with livestreaming, interview transcription, and asset management

Skills & Qualifications

Interest and previous experience with video and audio productionAbility to learn new skills quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environmentStrong, clear communication skills and superb attention to detailPassion for contemporary culture and the visual artsExperience using a CMS or digital publishing tool (such as WordPress)Interest in web accessibilityFamiliarity with data analytics or statistics useful, but not requiredUndergraduates and graduates currently enrolled in accredited academic year programs are eligibleApplicants must have completed a minimum of one year’s worth of academic coursework; undergraduate freshmen are not eligibleWhile a demonstrated interest in art and art history is preferred, students in all majors are encouraged to applyPrevious museum experience is not required

Provided Training

Introduction to project management software, digital content production, and basic museum processesApproaches to digital content and strategyMedia production from inception to completion

Outcomes

Learn to create impactful content that fulfills the Whitney’s mission and reaches audiences both online and at the MuseumProduction management and communication skillsExperience as an effective member of a small team doing big things

CompensationInterns will be paid a stipend of $6500 for full participation.
