SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Patient Care Service Representative is responsible for ensuring that all patient registrations are created and updated accurately and in a timely manner. The Patient Care Service Representative is expected to provide a high level of exceptional customer service while focusing on achieving quality standards and maintaining data integrity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answer telephone queue system and schedule appointments for all providers.
- Establish and manage provider schedules and calendars; review scheduling on a weekly basis to minimize conflicts.
- Send out weekly and annual reminders for appointments or call patients as directed.
- Greet and direct all incoming and outgoing patients, providing information as appropriate.
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information, making necessary updates in records and computer systems.
- Prepare and process encounter forms and checkout paperwork accurately.
- Document payments on encounter forms and maintain originals; complete additional check-out paperwork as needed.
- Implement message paging when directed.
- Collaborate closely with other staff in the medical group.
- Participate in vacation and illness coverage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and patient waiting area.
- Photocopy and fax materials as required.
- Access computer systems and input data as required.
- Monitor office supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
- Oversee patient flow within the office.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or higher.
- One year of prior experience in a healthcare environment.
- Working knowledge of the registration function of integrated practice management systems in a healthcare environment.
- Advanced customer service skills.
- Strong phone and communication skills.
- Full understanding of insurance eligibility.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office and other computer software.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient medical information.
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly using alphabetic or numeric systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow both oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
