SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Patient Care Service Representative is responsible for ensuring that all patient registrations are created and updated accurately and in a timely manner. The Patient Care Service Representative is expected to provide a high level of exceptional customer service while focusing on achieving quality standards and maintaining data integrity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Answer telephone queue system and schedule appointments for all providers.
  • Establish and manage provider schedules and calendars; review scheduling on a weekly basis to minimize conflicts.
  • Send out weekly and annual reminders for appointments or call patients as directed.
  • Greet and direct all incoming and outgoing patients, providing information as appropriate.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information, making necessary updates in records and computer systems.
  • Prepare and process encounter forms and checkout paperwork accurately.
  • Document payments on encounter forms and maintain originals; complete additional check-out paperwork as needed.
  • Implement message paging when directed.
  • Collaborate closely with other staff in the medical group.
  • Participate in vacation and illness coverage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and patient waiting area.
  • Photocopy and fax materials as required.
  • Access computer systems and input data as required.
  • Monitor office supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
  • Oversee patient flow within the office.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or higher.
  • One year of prior experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of the registration function of integrated practice management systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Advanced customer service skills.
  • Strong phone and communication skills.
  • Full understanding of insurance eligibility.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office and other computer software.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient medical information.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly using alphabetic or numeric systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
