All test scores should be submitted to the facility in a SEALED ENVELOPE from the school administering the test.
Correctional Officer Training
Selected candidates will undergo 5 weeks of job relevant Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) paid for by the Georgia Department of Corrections. All the employee is responsible for is the application fee for POST ($33.00). BCOT is held in Forsyth ,Ga., GDC State Offices at Tift College. Subject matter includes training in the following categories:
Security and Supervision Emergency Procedures
Health and Human Services Use of Force
Legal Procedures
Correctional Officers employed by the Georgia Department of Corrections are certified Peace Officers. Applicants must pass the written and practical exams associated with BCOT.
