Job Summary:
The Produce Assistant Manager supports the Produce Department Manager in various department functions. This includes, but is not limited to; ensuring department cooperation and coordination in pursuit of department goals, personnel management, and supervision of department tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure timely and accurate ordering of adequate quantity of designated products for daily shelf sales, demos, special orders and promotions systems.
• Ensure planning and execution of all weekly promotions including, but not limited to, vendor interface (securing product and price), display plans, plan-o-grams, staff communications.
• Ensure maintenance of ordering history from all vendors including, but not limited to, consistent and prompt follow-up on vendor issues
• Ensure products are stocked, rotated, and handled within WFC policies. Ensure all products and displays are attractively and appropriately merchandised to maximize sales. Promptly coordinator Point of Sale/POS maintenance information with IT Department including, but not limited to, ensuring appropriate and accurate pricing and signage for designated products. but not limited to,
• Ensure processing, monitoring and documentation of special orders, credits, out-of-stocks, mis-picks and lossed/contributed products according to department practices.
• As directed, hire, train, coach, develop, and assist in evaluating designated employees in compliance with established practice, policies, and budget restrictions to support day-to-day operations and to achieve department operational and financial goals.
• Ensure department accountability for maintaining performance standards, provide daily supervision and leadership to designated employees and follow through promptly on documentation, coaching, and assisting corrective actions in compliance with WFC policies and practices.
• Direct, prioritize tasks, and as needed, fill-in for designated staff.
• Ensure cooperation and coordinator with Produce Manager to achieve department goals for sales, margin, inventory turns, customer service, labor expense, safety and sanitation.
• Work with the Produce Manager to develop annual department business plans and budgets for department level needs and projects.
• Support the work of the operational leadership teams by attending and investing in required department and storewide meetings, supporting operational and storewide initiatives, and participating in the WFC Emergency Response Team.
• Achieve WFC customer service standards for internal and external customers.
• Contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment to support WFC’s ENDS.

• Uphold all personnel and operational policies, giving correction to staff and feedback to management as needed.

• Maintain cleanliness of department areas and equipment and communicate and document any equipment maintenance and/or safety concerns to department management.
• Report any problems with systems, tools and/or products to department management.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by department management.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in produce, produce purchasing, merchandising and pricing
• Experience supervising employees and/or project teams including, but not limited to, interviewing, training, coaching, and evaluating.
• Experience in retail, grocery, natural foods, and/or cooperative management.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays

• 18 years of age or older
• Leadership experience
• Basic computer literacy including familiarity with using a web browser and email
• Ability to operate effectively within established systems and procedures
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills

Essential Physical Requirements
• Ability to frequently move up to 50 lbs. throughout shift.
• Ability to occasionally move more than 50 lbs.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended period
• Ability to move around the premises throughout the shift
• Ability to operate position-required machinery
• Ability to do repetitive office tasks including, but not limited to, filing, using a computer keyboard, understanding information from a computer screen/LCD monitor and written materials for the entirety of shift
• Ability to safely use sharp cutting instruments
