We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, helping them achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life. Your work will be instrumental in fostering independence and promoting a positive living environment.
Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Monitoring vital signs and administering medication as prescribed.
- Providing patient care and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in your care.
- Engaging clients in recreational activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
- Lifting and transferring clients as needed, ensuring proper techniques are used for heavy lifting.
- Documenting client progress and reporting any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel.
- Supporting individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities by implementing personalized care plans.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients, including home care responsibilities.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and vital signs assessment.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and patience when working with clients.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while assisting clients with mobility needs.
- Previous experience in home care or similar settings is a plus.
