We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The DSP will play a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being and promoting their independence. This position requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance social interaction and engagement.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, behaviors, and progress in accordance with care plans.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each person's unique needs, including memory care and dementia care strategies.
- Support individuals in community integration activities, facilitating access to social events and recreational opportunities.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and conducting regular safety checks.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in training sessions related to first aid, patient observation, and working with people with disabilities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home care or community support settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid practices is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with memory care techniques and dementia care is a plus.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes in behavior or health status.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- A compassionate attitude towards individuals with disabilities and a commitment to their dignity and independence.
- Certification in relevant areas such as social work or home community care is advantageous but not required.
