As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. You will provide compassionate care and support in various settings, including group homes and community environments. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, implementing care plans, and promoting independence while ensuring the safety and well-being of those you serve.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each client.
- Provide support in a group home or community setting, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
- Observe and document patients' behaviors, progress, and any changes in their condition to ensure effective communication with healthcare providers.
- Assist clients with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring as required while following safety protocols.
- Engage clients in recreational activities and social interactions to promote mental well-being and community involvement.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients by adhering to health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving, home health, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with care plans and patient observation techniques is highly beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
- Compassionate attitude towards individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting or assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- A commitment to promoting independence while ensuring the safety of clients in your care.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus but not mandatory at the time of application.
