Summary
The Accounts Receivable (A/R) Specialist works directly with the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance as well as internal customers to provide support in the accounting department of our management company and Headquarters Offices. Duties include reconciling and posting revenues and deposits, processing refunds, and communications regarding cash flow.
Essential functions
- Processes daily patient payments and insurance reimbursements
- Reconciles accounts receivable balances across multiple healthcare facilities
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation
- Support month-end close processes for the finance department
- Reviews all daily deposits and reconciles them to Daily Revenue Reports (DRRs), Funding Report, and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Prints, logs, and charts refund checks requested by the Billing Department.
- Sends printed refund checks to HQ for signature.
- Assists in audit requests as needed.
- Assists in deposit research requests as needed.
- Maintains an electronic copy of all deposit files.
- Assists other Financial Services, Headquarters, EL, Funding and clinic personnel as necessary.
- Prepares deposit reports and files for storage.
- Performs filing and coping.
- Other appropriate duties as assigned.
Experience and General Requirements
- Associate degree or higher
- At least 2 years’ experience in high volume, full cycle A/R
- Must be skilled in Excel
- Familiarity with inter-company accounts preferred
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Experienced in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Competencies
- Accounting Skills – the individual has a working knowledge of full cycle accounting incorporating software, reporting and document tracking.
- Technological Skills – the individual is more than comfortable working with accounting software such as Sage (Abila) or similar advanced systems. Excel proficiency is a must.
- Organizational Skills – the individual will be responsible for organizing and maintaining accurate accounting records including invoices and grants.
- Problem Solving—the individual will be responsible for identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner. Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
- Interpersonal Skills—the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others’ ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things.
- Communication—the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and conducts meetings as necessary. Excellent writing and interaction skills are required.
Physical Requirements
- Must possess the ability and capability to perform any task in the office.
- Must have excellent visual and hearing acuity.
