Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our healthcare team. The primary responsibility of this role is overseeing the financial transactions of patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, coding, and collections. This role involves working closely with our Revenue Cycle Management company, clinics, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to optimize revenue and reduce outstanding balances.
This is a remote position, but you must reside in one of the following states for consideration: VA, MN, NM
Essential functions
- Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with patients and payers.
- Review and verify patient billing information for accuracy and completeness.
- Submit required medical necessity forms to multiple Medicaid offices.
- Follow up on claim denials or rejections.
- Ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures in compliance with industry regulations (e.g., CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in billing and payments.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues.
- Assist with insurance verifications and obtaining authorizations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations regarding medical billing and reimbursement.
- Monitor accounts receivable (A/R) and take action to expedite collections.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare billing, insurance policies, and coding regulations.
Experience and General Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.
- Knowledge of insurance claims processing, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare regulations.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

- Must be able to cope with the reduced social interaction and contact.
- Must be self-disciplined and not be distracted from working, be able to complete the expected working hours, and be able to work without direct supervision.

- Must have good communication skills including written and verbal reporting.
- Where necessary, must be willing and able to use new or different communications and IT equipment.
