Director of Credit

Summary/Objective

The Director of Credit is responsible for the review of the organization’s loan portfolio on a continuing basis in order to prevent or improve loan losses; assure documentation is in compliance with loan committee approvals and state/federal regulations; assist in detection of deterioration in loan quality; and review and ensure internal compliance objectives are met.

Essential Functions

• Directing the daily operations of the Credit department
• Governing credit risk appropriately
• Managing collection and dispute activities to achieve working targets
• Identifying and developing system and process improvements to maximize the efficiency of the Credit department in serving the Company and its customers
• Establishing, implementing, and managing collection and dispute management processes aligned with the information from Accounts Receivable
• Managing the aging effectively to achieve collections and aging profile targets
• Developing and directing credit management reports that address the needs of each respective audience
• Providing effective and timely guidance to the CFO and Accounting department

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

Supervisory Responsibility

The Director of Credit manages the work of the entire Credit department.

Working conditions

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. The employee must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Minimum 10 years of management experience in credit and collections required
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Certified Credit Executive (CCE) designation preferred
