Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Estimator who wants to be a part of our growing dynamic team of professionals working toward bringing sustainable forestry solutions to commercial construction markets. If you have a strong background in construction estimating, exceptional communication/organization skills, and a temperament for innovation, you may be the perfect candidate to join our team.
Serving the diverse needs of a cutting-edge structural round timber manufacturing company, you will contribute to our success by utilizing your estimating skills to successfully move projects from initial inquiry to profitable signed purchase orders. You will work closely with Sales to create timely and accurate project price estimates, quotes, and bids. Additionally, the Senior Estimator is the liaison between departments working to improve pricing model methodologies and processes in support of company goals.
What you’ll need:
- 5 years of estimating experience in the commercial construction industry.
- Familiarity with reading and analyzing plans at various stages of development to provide cost-effective solution guidance to the project team.
- Desire to guide and develop best practices for the Estimating Department.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as an integral team member within a dynamic sales and fabrication environment.
- Primary point of contact for all project constituents.
- Generate estimates, quotes, rough orders of magnitude, and change orders in partnership with project team members across multiple functional groups.
- Create/update contact lists, sales data, and company reports in the CRM tool (HubSpot).
- Maintain an organized digital filing system of Client and Projects files.
- Correspond with Third Party vendors for estimates (requests, due dates, inquiries, etc.)
- Use Bluebeam and Excel estimating and creating/modifying bid documents.
- Balance workflow and manage expectations regarding estimating queue.
- Coordinate and communicate with Sales and Fabrication Departments.
- Communicate material needs and track procurement with vendors.
- Estimate and quote support for pipeline project takeoffs based on architectural plan sets and client needs.
- Assist with Change Order development.
- Weekly team meetings, in-person and remote, where projects are addressed in systematic ways.
- Experience successfully working with teams with compassion, humor, and accountability.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with demonstrated success in multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-motivated, self-directed with exceptional attention to detail.
- A preference for fast-paced and diverse workdays where new information and changing circumstances are received with creativity, efficiency, and patience.

- Capacity for occasional travel: Sales & Engineering office located in Madison, WI. Manufacturing facilities located in Westby, WI & Ashland, ME. Production partnerships located nationwide.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. After the first 30 days of full-time employment, a full benefits package will be provided including paid holidays, accrued paid time off and a health benefit package. This position will work closely with the Project Management Dept, Design Dept, Sales Dept, VP of Operations and CEO.
