Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, ensuring they receive the highest level of service. This role requires a strong understanding of optical products, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively in a any environment, Travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with picking out frames, advising patients on frame material, styles and color
- Assist patients with lens ordering, recommending lenses and add-ons that the doctor has prescribed, take measurements
- Assist patients in ordering contact lenses
- Post charges and payments accordingly to insurance or benefit
- Pre-appoint patients at end of patient interaction
- Dispense glasses and contact lenses to patients
- Adjust glasses so they fit properly for patients
- Troubleshoot if a patient is having difficulty with their glasses
- Check in glasses and contacts when received from labs
- Mark glasses and contacts as received in Revolution so patient is notified
- Check jobs older than 1 week, call labs for status and document
- Check jobs that are waiting for patients to pick up, call patients if longer than 2 weeks
- Maintain contact lens trials inventory
- Instruct patients how to wear contact lenses (Insertion & Removal)
- Communicate with patient on Weave (texts)
- Maintain an orderly work area
- Maintain working knowledge of most popular types of contact lenses and care products
- Maintain working knowledge of all frames and ophthalmic materials
- Any of the above responsibilities are subject to change and/or be added to
- Maintain a clean area - vacuum optical area end of the day - clean desk, chairs, bathroom for patients
- Document any patient phone call/text performed into revolution EHR system - patient note section with Date and initials
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude are essential for success in this role.
- Jobs must be posted same day and ordered within 12 hours from time of frame selection and lens fit
- When a patient inquires about an issue (i.e. low vision, frame availability, etc.) the resolution must be within 48 hours. If this cannot be done by yourself, delegate to another optician.
- Maintain full frame board
- Never order frames for patient approval unless approved by management.
- All exams must be posted and filed within 12 hours from exam
- Jobs are to be checked in within ½ day of arrival to office and marked as received in RevolutionEHR
- Process frames received into RevolutionEHR
- Check phone messages & weave texts multiple times a day - all messages must be taken and a return call made to the patient before leaving for the day
