Job Title: Crewperson 6a-c - Electrical
Position Function: The Crewperson 6 shall possess exceptional knowledge and demonstrate remarkable skills in the designed job area. They shall have the ability to carry out assignments and perform work of excellent quality with minimum supervision. They should demonstrate outstanding qualities in efficiency, initiative and dependability when completing various tasks.
Employee Punctuality And Appearance
Equipment: The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the position as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Employees must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use. Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment. Other tools that may be used but are not limited to: amp probe, basic hand tools, CAT 5 cable, conduit, drills, hand tube benders, hydraulic punch, ladders, lift truck, rotary hammer drill, saws (stationary and hand held), snorkel and genie lift, tube bender machine and LAN/WAN.
Travel: Travel between schools and central offices is required.

- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position

- Occasional (1-3 hours): Below the waist reaching, waist to shoulder reaching, overhead reaching, sitting, climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, other), operating foot controls, kneeling, crouching (squatting), crawling, lying down (back, side, front), repetitive motion (multiple manipulation of same muscle group) and low impact vibratory tools (drilling/sanding)
- Frequent (3-6 hours): Standing, walking, rotation of head/neck, flexion (head bend down and head bend back), bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, forceful gripping, and fine finger manipulation
- Constant (6-8 hours): Handling/grasping

- Ability to communicate both verbally and written in order to communicate with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information

- Maintain current knowledge relating to technical information and policies concerning this Facilities area, and assists the Supervisor in assigned administrative tasks

- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
- Will work under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks

- Support the organizational goals, the mission of the School Service Center and the district

- Daily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and delivery of services
- Work varies from the simple replacement of a switch to the service, maintenance, and installation of the most technical and complex electrical systems
- Maintain knowledge of the latest methods and procedures utilized in the assigned unit
- Assume responsibility for all tools, supplies, and materials
- Communicate effectively with job coordinators
- Attendance at required meetings and in-services
- Requisition materials when requested

- Perform maintenance on all district electrical systems (outlets, ballast, contactors, disconnects etc.)
- Must be able to perform all maintenance/service i.e. (oil changes, mechanical repairs, transfer switch maintenance and repairs).
- Maintain a reliable fleet of generators and transfer switches in the buildings.
- Be able to move, hook up check for phase rotation and unhook portable generator properly on site.
- Keep maintenance records for all equipment and maintain code requirements on regulated site.
- Load bank, all generators as required by the state.
- Have the ability to evolve with the industry as well as take on additional tasks such as computer networking, installation of fiber optics, cable television wiring, closed circuit television, and security, telephone cabling and the installation of anything closely resembling wire
- New installation of any high or low voltage electrical system
- Keep up with current NEC codes and be able to use the NEC book
- Primarily responsible of making sure our 50-plus generators are 100% reliable
- Able to troubleshoot, perform maintenance (mechanical and electrical) on systems and perform new installations
- General upkeep and maintenance on oil changes, radiator flush, fuel filters, etc.
- Keep records of all services performed
- Maintain current knowledge relating to technical information and policies concerning this Facilities area, and assists the Supervisor in assigned administrative tasks
- Make decisions and offers solutions to the unit Supervisor(s) concerning problems in the field
- Plan and estimates labor and material costs of assigned jobs. Assists with preliminary budget preparation
- Delegate work as needed to employees in the absence of the Supervisor
- HS Diploma or GED preferred
- Maintain a valid Kansas driver's license at all times throughout employment
- Current MABCD Electrical Journeyman or Master license preferred but not required
