Job Title: Crewperson 3 - Interior Finishes
Position Function: The Interior Finishes Crewperson performs wide variety of tasks within the Finish unit, which may be required but not limited to sandblasting, spray painting, repair, disassembly, assembly, sanding, staining and moving of furniture. This includes any other tasks assigned by the Leadperson of the Finish Shop or Supervisor of Building Support Services. This Crewperson shall possess knowledge and demonstrate excellent skills in the furniture finishing and repair trade.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with WPS guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Travel between schools and central offices is required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Work in standard office and school building environments
- Ability to work in dusty conditions
- Work around various paint, paint thinners, and lacquer fumes
- Attend required meetings and in-service training
- Occasional overtime required
- Frequent heavy lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, carrying
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions

- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of power tool and shop safety
- Ability to repair and refinish a large variety of furniture and related items
- Ability to organize, communicate effectively and perform work in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks, changing assignments on short notice, performing under deadlines and working in a calm and efficient manner
- Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality

Interrelations:
- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
- Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks

- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
- Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Accepts the responsibility for assisting with the training, skill development and supervision of other team members
- Displays willingness to be trained in all phases of the assignment and to increase his/her skills, thus, qualifying for advancement
- Possesses a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service
- Maintains appropriate licenses and certifications including a valid Kansas driver's license
- Possesses superior knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership
- Supports the organizational goals, the mission of the Schools Service Center and the district
- Works cooperatively with others and assists in maintaining open lines of communication
- Works directly or indirectly under the Supervisor
- Assist with removing and installing carpet, make and install bulletin boards, shades and signage, install blinds, dispensers, pencil sharpeners, map rails, smart boards and white boards.
- Repair and maintain athletic equipment, stage and auditorium components, sewing of various items and assembly of furniture.
- Assist in hauling, delivery, set up and tear down of furniture, stages, risers and other program equipment and items as needed.
- Perform snow removal operations as required
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Follow instructions for assembly of furniture
Qualification Profile:
- A High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License through entirety of employment
- Obtain and maintain Asbestos O & M Class certificate if needed
