Job Title:
Technician, Computer Systems, Nutrition Services

Position Function: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Financial Services and Technology Operations for the daily operation of Nutrition Services hardware and software applications.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall performance of the department’s POS, Front of House, Back of House, Inventory, and Temperature monitoring software and hardware
    • Hardware maintenance and repair including repair and warranty replacement, re-imaging
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Nutrition Services software applications
  • Document software standards and procedures for users, and develop training manuals, videos, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Function as Nutrition Services technology go-to person
  • Provide technical support and training for Front of House and Back of House systems software and hardware use in all attendance centers, Central office, Central Warehouse and Food Production Facility
  • Maintain the Nutrition Services computer equipment inventory
  • Document and maintain service request log of technical issues
  • Assist with processing Eligibility benefits, including Direct Certification, Verification, and application processing
  • Facilitate weekly inventory meetings with supervisor staff
  • Facilitate vendor communication/meetings
  • Research, test and recommend hardware purchases
  • Front of House and Back of House report design and implementation
  • Forecast stock required for food purchases based on scheduled menus

Additional Duties: Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Financial Services and Technology Operations.

Equipment: This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259’s guidelines for equipment use.

Travel: In-district travel as well as some out-of-district travel is required.

  • Flexible schedule needed to meet deadlines
  • Regular attendance required to meet the demands of the position and for effective teamwork
  • Driving to school buildings
  • Ability to work indoors in extreme heat and cold and outdoors in inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice may be required
  • Attendance at required meetings

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisors when their discretion is needed
  • Advanced computer proficiency and the ability to effectively use Microsoft 365 which may be determined and validated by testing
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to create and manipulate Excel and Google spreadsheets
  • Must be self-disciplined, with ability to work independently
  • Must have excellent problem solving and organizational skills


Interrelations:

  • Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
  • Will be working under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Financial Services and Technology Operations in order to complete day to day tasks
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

  • In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator
  • All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position

Qualification Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems or other related field or commensurate combination of formal education and practical experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with computer hardware and software required
  • Advanced computer skills required (including Microsoft 365) which may be determined and validated by testing
  • Excellent math skills required which may be determined and validated by testing
  • Must maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license throughout employment
