Medical Laboratory Technologist
Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

Position reports to: Lab Manager
Location of position: Wichita, KS
Position Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs analysis requiring a complex network of steps and variables. The Medical Laboratory Technologist recognizes technical, instrumental or physical problems, identifies the cause and evaluates alternative solutions where no pre-set criteria are available. Confirms and verifies laboratory results utilizing in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments. Correlates and interprets data based on knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results. Establishes and monitors quality assurance programs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis requiring complex network of steps and variables
- Verify patient information and test requisitions
- Prioritize testing procedures and complete those procedures in an accurate and timely manner
- Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
- Collect and interpret data
- Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions
- Record all data and results in EHR with accuracy and responsibility
- Maintain laboratory equipment
- Obtain blood specimens by preforming venipunctures
- Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique and following departmental procedure
- Track collected specimens following departmental procedure
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related filed, preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of procedures, theory, and techniques employed in medical laboratories.
- ASCP certified, preferred.

- Must have good manual dexterity and ability to use both hands and tools to manipulate small and delicate parts.
- Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing or walking may be required, should be able to transport approximately 0-50lbs
