What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flooring Installer/Sand and Finish position at Wichita Wood Floor Specialists?

Wichita Wood Floor Specialists is seeking Wood Floor Installers & Refinishers to join our team. Duties will involve:
Performs the following during a sand/finish job:
- carries 55 lb edge sander
- squats to edge sand the perimeter of a wood floor
- rolls or carries a 30-50 lb industrial sander vacuum
- assists the crew lead with carrying a 175 lb drum sander up stairs or across thresholds - normally it rolls in a dolly
- squats or kneels to use a 3 lb orbital sander
- carries a 5-10 lb shop vac along with the orbital sander
- squats or kneels to scrape corners of the wood floor
- carries a 30-50 lb cabinet sander
- squats or kneels to use a cabinet sander on wood floor around cabinets
- carry 1-2 gallons of stain at 8 lbs each by the handle
- kneels to hands and knees to wipe stain on and off stain
- carry 2-4 gallons of finish in a box, 8 lbs each
- bends or squats to use an applicator on finish around perimeter
Performs the following during a wood floor installation:
- Carry 40 - 70 lb bundles/boxes of wood
- Bends to roll out underlayment OR bend to apply glue with a trowel
- Bends to rack out the flooring
- Kneels or squats to use a mallet to pound flooring in and/or to use a sausage glue gun to glue assist when required.
- Squats or bends to nail flooring in using a 5-10 lb primatech nail gun, uses mallet to activate
- Carry a 30-60 lb table saw and set up.
- Uses a saw to make board cuts
- Kneel or squat to fill nail holes
- Squat or kneel to install base shoe
Performs the following if material needs removed prior to installation:
Carpet:
- Squat, bend, or kneel to cut carpet and/or pad into strips
- squat, bend, or kneel to roll carpet and/or pad into strips
- carry the rolls of carpet or pad to a dumpster (rolls likely weigh 10 lbs up to 50 lbs depending on individual and size of strips)
- use a crowbar to pry up tack strips, dispose
Wood:
- Bend, squat to use a crowbar to pry up wood that is nailed down or glued
- Dispose into a large trash can, carry to dumpster
Tile:
- Hammer to dislodge tile
- Bend or squat to use a crowbar for the stubborn pieces
- Scoop up with a shovel
- Dispose of in large trash can, carry to dumpster
- Pry up the underlayment with a crowbar
- Dispose of.
Candidate must:
- Must apply in person.
- Provide previous work references that will be verified by WWFS.
- Have general construction skills.
- Be able to physically lift and carry bundles of wood, finishes, and tools.
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Have dependable transportation.
- Have a smartphone to clock in/out, use google calendar, communicate with staff/customer.
- Pass our background check.
- Must be able to commit to full time work.
Experience preferred but willing to train an able craftsman. Pay will be based on experience. Benefits if chosen could include health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, and life insurance after probation period. Also after probation New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day is paid time off.
