General Description
The Health Information Management (HIM) Tech is responsible to compile, process, and maintain medical record systems in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the health care system.
Essential Job Duties
- Process Obituaries
- Assist with portal questions
- Internal and external customer service
- Medical record analysis
- Release of Information
- Document indexing and scanning
- Adhere and support WCH policy, procedures and practices
- All other duties as assigned
Other (Non-Essential) Job Duties
- Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned
- Performs specific work duties and projects assigned by the Manager and/or Lead Tech
- Assist in compiling of statistical and quality data or review
- Interdepartmental communication in verbal or written formats
- Participate in the implementation of new systems as they occur
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two or more years of previous related experience
- Excellent customer service
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
- Basic computer knowledge
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
The position is mainly sedentary in nature but may include standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
