JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARYResponsible for planning, teaching, and execution of specialized instruction in a specific topic/skill to individuals participating in classes, programs, and/or camps.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs.Plans, leads, and instructs lessons and classes in area of expertise for registered participants.Provides detailed curriculum and learning objectives for class/presentation; applies effective teaching methods and procedures.Works effectively with students, staff, and volunteers.Receives and responds to communications with supervisors.Meets required deadlines and reporting requirements.Monitors attendance and maintains updated rosters.Provides supply list to supervisor in a timely manner and secures supplies/equipment prior to class.Meets the instructional needs of all participants in class, fostering a fun learning environment.Receives and responds to questions, concerns, and complaints from patrons; determines issues and resolves or refers to higher-level staff as appropriate.Works collaboratively with participants and staff to ensure a positive learning environment.Provides excellent customer service to all patrons.Answers inquiries for programming and provides information to patrons.Performs other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGEBasic record keeping methods and procedures;Basic needs and safety concerns associated with the care of assigned populations;Principles, practices, teaching methods, and techniques specific to the program of instruction;Safety concerns associated with the care of the participants;Teaching progressions to youth and adults;Safety equipment where applicable;First Aid and CPR methods, procedures, and practices.SKILLSUsing computers and related software applications; Maintaining a safe work environment;Working independent of supervision;Planning, coordinating, and delivering instructional training in a recreational setting;Understanding and following written and oral instructions;Observing, and objectively and clearly reporting, routine and non-routine emergency and non-emergency activities;Completing various forms and reports;Communication both verbal and written, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
