JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARYResponsible for protecting the life and well-being of each person using the swimming pool.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs.Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents.Rescues swimmers in emergency situations.Follows an action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency. Evaluates a situation then determines and provides necessary Basic Lifesaving Support in an emergency.Enforces pool rules and complies with aquatic safety regulations.Complies with StarGuard protocols.Assists with program registrations, swim fees, and other pool financial transactions.Answers inquiries for aquatics programming and provides information to patrons.Assists with the inventory of pool supplies and equipment.Participates in all in-service training throughout the season.Participates in the cleaning of the aquatic’s facility.Completes required paperwork as needed in a timely manner.Performs other duties as assigned or required.KNOWLEDGEBasic computer skills;Safety concerns associated with the care of the participants;StarGuard requirement skills;Safety equipment.SKILLSUsing computers and related software applications;Acting quickly and calmly in emergency situations;Performing water rescue, first aid, CPR, and lifesaving;Maintaining a safe work environment;Swimming and assisting other swimmers;Demonstrating proficiency in swimming and diving skills;Communication both verbal and written, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
