JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARYResponsible for the management of the pool, which includes pool safety, directing, scheduling, supervision of the pool staff, sanitation, and programming/supervision of participants. Receives supervision from the Community Program Manager and Community Program Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs.Supervises the day-to-day operation of a municipal swimming pool.Assists and oversees the development, registration, and implementation of programming.Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents.Monitors employees filling out complete and accurate incident/accident reports.Rescues swimmers in emergency situations.Follows an action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency. Evaluates a situation then determines and provides necessary Basic Lifesaving Support in an emergency.Enforces pool rules and complies with aquatic safety regulations.Provides excellent customer service to all patrons.Complies with StarGuard protocols.Assists with program registrations, swim fees, and other pool financial transactions.Answers inquiries for aquatics programming and provides information to patrons.Assists with distribution and collection of program evaluations.Assists with the inventory of pool supplies and equipment.Facilitates the planning of, and participation in, all in-service training throughout the season.Supervises and participates in the cleaning of the aquatic facility.Resolves patron and staff issues fairly and professionally in the absence of the Pool Manager.Assists in the completion of pool staff evaluations.Oversees scheduling staff.Gives guidance and assistance to Water Safety Instructors, Lifeguards, Assistant Pool Managers, and Fitness Instructors.Oversees the development and implementation of swim lessons and swim team programs by periodically reviewing the instructional content and inspecting program plans for compliance with standards.Assists and oversees the development and implementation of the Junior Lifeguard Program. Conducts employee disciplinary action as directed.
