POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates the health program within the district.
- Coordinates and supervises health screenings and provides follow-up.
- Audits health records for immunization status of all students, assists site Health Aides in resolving and communicating deficiencies.
- Assists with the maintenance of historical student health records.
- Acts as a point of contact for Maricopa County Health Department related to illnesses and outbreaks.
- Advises school Health Aides on appropriate protocols and communications to families.
- Assists district and school personnel with contact tracing for communicable diseases.
- Stays abreast of current school and health information and requirements at the county and state levels.
- Provides ongoing training for school Health Aides, and newly hired Health Aides.
- Assists school sites which experience vacancies in health staff.
- Serves as a health resource person for students, staff, and parents.
- Provides emergency health care to students and staff, as needed.
- Ensures school sites use appropriate BBP practices and procedures.
- Monitors CPR/First Aide Certificates of the district’s Health Aides and Special Education Paraprofessionals. Ensures certificates are valid and organizes CPR/First aide classes, as needed.
- Provides health evaluation, case management, and appropriate care for chronically ill or handicapped students.
- Support medically fragile students, as needed.
- Assists with the training of Special Education Paraprofessionals, as needed.
- Complies with all rules, regulations and policies of the Governing Board;
- Other job related duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Current Arizona LPN or RN certificate.
- Valid CPR/First Aide certificate.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check and maintain a current Fingerprint Clearance Card.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures.
- One year related experience or training preferred;
- Previous experience in an educational setting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

- Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.

- Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms. Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.

- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally will stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
